NICK LAWRENCE
Born in East London, then raised on the other side of the world in Perth, Western Australia, it was my journalist father whom first pointed me in the direction of people and how interesting it is to observe the human experience.
Working as a magazine Editor for half a decade, my initial creative outlet for these observations was words; speaking to people and attempting to translate their experience into written language.
My photography has always followed in this spirit. A turn of the head that conveys an insight, a lifetime of experience in the tilt of a chin, a tonal consistency, or a shard of light or shadow that ties objects, places and faces together. The stories one can tell through photography seem limitless to me.
I love the process of collaboration – whether it’s with individual subjects on a personal project, or a whole creative team within an agency.
